Champions League Match Day 2 continues

The Big Match: Manchester City v/s Bayern Munich

Manchester City face an uphill battle against Bayern Munich when the defending champions visit the Etihad Stadium. City coach Manuel Pellegrini has never beaten Pep Guardiola as manager of Villarreal, Malaga or Real Madrid while the Spaniard was in charge of Barcelona and so he will love to end his losing streak tonight.
Both sides enjoyed comfortable 3-0 victories in their opening group D games, Bayern overcoming CSKA Moscow at home, while City got the better of Czech side Viktoria Plzen. City come into the game on the back of a shock 3-2 defeat away at Aston Villa at the weekend.
In contrast, Bayern have been imperious in their Bundesliga campaign, dropping just two points from their opening seven fixtures - a run that sees them sit second only to Dortmund on goal difference. The other match of the group is between CSKA Moscow and Viktoria Plzen.

In Group A, a struggling Manchester United side, fresh from their shock loss in the weekend against West Bromich Albion, will play against the dangerous Shakhter Donetsk away and Bayer Leverkusen entertains Real Sociedad at home with both teams looking to open their account.

In Group B, FC Copenhagen will look to upset the form book when they visit Real Madrid, who were defeated by local rivals Atletico Madrid at the weekend, in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The Danish outfit had a memorable result on matchday one by earning a 1-1 home draw against Juventus. Real were in imperious form in their opening Group B fixture, Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a hat-trick in a 6-1 demolition of Galatasaray in Turkey. In the other match Juventus would like to come back to winning ways when they entertain Galatasaray in Roberto Mancini’s first game in charge of the Turkish Champions.

In Group C, nouveau riche Paris St. Germain will play against Benfica at the Parc de Princes stadium whereas Belgian Champion Anderlecht play against Greek side Olympiakos Piraeus.
