India Vs West Indies 2nd Test Match Day 2 Report

Probably the perfect final innings for the master, given the state of the match, that is how you can sum up Day 2 of the historical 2nd Test match between India and West Indies. At stumps, India was comfortably placed in the test match with the West Indies reeling at 43 for 3 though the dangerous Chris Gayle is still there on .Earlier this morning when play resumed the master Sachin Tendulkar was in full flow with some exquisite strokes straight down the ground, which reminded many of his hey days. He put on a partnership of 144 with Pujara who kept accumulating the runs at a steady rate. Sachin’s innings included twelve hits to the fence, before he felt at 74 to Deonarine, followed by a standing ovation from the crowd on the occasion as he made his way back to the dressing room on what could be his last innings in an India shirt.
After the master went, Pujara took charge and completed a commanding century, supported well by Kohli who looked in a hurry and was attacking from ball one until he fell at 57. Then there was a consistent flurry of wickets from there on until the end of innings. In the mean while Rohit Sharma kept hitting some crisp shots as his honeymoon period in international cricket continued, when he scored his second test century in as many matches. Shillingford was again the start for West Indies with a 5-wicket haul to his name, well supported by Deonarine, who bagged a couple of wickets himself. Finally, India’s innings subsided at 495 with a massive lead of 313 runs at a time of the day which was perfect for Dhoni to have a late go at the Windies batsman in the fading light. This proved vital as the Windies lost 3 wickets in that phase of play with Ashwin bagging a couple.
The hosts are well placed as on the 2nd day of the 2nd test match here at Mumbai having still got a lead of 270 runs, with stars like Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan and a host of others gracing the stadium with their presence on Day 2. More of the same looks doomed to follow for the Windies with the hosts looking set to wrap up the match on Day 3 providing Sachin a perfect winning sent off, unless there’s some Gayle magic in store for us.
