Can India win the Asia Cup without MS Dhoni's leadership?

As the tour of New Zealand has drawn to a close, Team India continues to disappoint in all formats of the game. The game play has undergone a complete reversal for the Indian Cricket Team, as they failed to register even a single win during the whole tour. Be it Test matches, or ODIs, the team has looked equally feeble in every scenario. A lot of criticism has been fired at the Indian Captain MS Dhoni, and a lot of people are having the opinion of changing the captain of Team India.
While the Indian team doesn’t have any foreign tour for atleast 4 months now, they can utilize this time to improve on the shortcomings of the previous foreign tours, and become a better cricketing side. Amidst all this, there is a huge opportunity for the Indian Vice captain- Virat Kohli to make an impact on the cricketing world through his captaincy now. With MS Dhoni already out of the Asia Cup 2014, Virat Kohli has been given the responsibility to lead Team India during the tournament.

India will definitely be missing the experience of MS Dhoni on the field, and the tactics and strategies implemented by Captain Cool. But, this doesn’t mean that team India has become absolutely incompetent for the tournament. In Virat Kohli, we have an aggressive and young captain who is willing to make the right move to go for the kill. Virat’s contribution as the captain of the Indian Cricket Team during the Zimbabwe tour cannot be neglected. When Dhoni was sitting out of the ODI series against Zimbabwe, VIrat Kohli grabbed the opportunity with both the hands and made the most out of it. India went on to beat Zimbabwe by a margin of 5-0 in the One Dayers. Under Kohli’s captaincy, India was able to revive its performance in the West-Indies Tri Nation series in June 2013 and reach the final stage(and India won the final under the captaincy of MS Dhoni).

Though MS Dhoni is not with Team India for the Asia Cup 2014, Virat Kohli is surely expected to step up and deliver the same performance which he did in the Zimbabwe and West Indies tour.
