French Open 2014: Rafael Nadal wins his 9th French Open title

Rafael Nadal continued his love affair with the French Open by winning his incredible 9th French Open title in 10 years. The World No. 1 defeated Novak Djokovic 3-6 7-5 6-2 6-4 to extend his grand slam win to 14 just three short of Roger Federer’s record of career grand slams.

Novak Djokovic was looking to become only the eighth man to complete a career grand slam and he started off in a great fashion winning the first set 6-3. But the King of Clay was not to be deterred and won a tightly contested 2nd set 7-5. After that it was Nadal all the way as Djokovic struggled to find his rhythm and succumbed to his 2nd French Open final defeat.
