The Rabona King

The Rabona King

The Rabona kick is the latest fad in the world of football. It’s been trending a lot since Angel Di Maria performed the trick to perfection in assisting Cristiano Ronaldo to score a goal against Copenhagen in the Champions League group stage encounter. Di Maria is probably in the best form of his Real Madrid career and that form has transformed into confidence for him to try this ‘out of the box’ trick.

There are a few sites which describe Angel Di Maria as the King of Rabona. He has done it before during pre season for Madrid. Even then it had turned out to be an assist. This trick performed by Di Maria against Copenhagen went viral on all social networking sites. People just loved the trick performed by the Argentinean. That trend inspired Luis Suarez to repeat the same trick for Liverpool against Crystal Palace in their 3-1 victory. Though the trick failed to provide an assist , it just shows how popular this new trick has been among footballers.

I remember Ronaldinho performing the same trick during his dazzling career. It looks good if it works. Fans just love it and you would find a Youtube video gathering millions of likes. Other stars who have performed this trick in the recent past have been Fernando Torres who did it for Chelsea, Ricardo Quaresma, Cristiano Ronaldo and many more. But most of these players have actually failed to turn it into an assist. It just turned out to be flashy trickery that amazed the audience. But one man who has amazed the audience as well as got his name in the assist book is Angel Di Maria. No doubt he is rightly known as the the Rabona King
