EPL : Which teams will be relegated this season?

EPL : Which teams will be relegated this season?

As the title race heats up, teams at the bottom of the table are fighting to stay in the top division. In the last 10 years, there has been only one season where all the three newly promoted teams managed to avoid being relegated. Crystal Palace, Cardiff City and Hull City face an uphill battle to survive in the league. Odds that at least one of these teams will go down to the championship are pretty high.

Hull City (10th position, 6 Wins, 5 Draws, 8 Losses)
Hull has been the best performer among the three newly promoted teams. They have played well at home. Robert Brady will be one of the players to watch out. Steve Bruce has also showered praise on Tom Huddlestone. Huddlestone has been consistently playing very well this season. If he continues his present form, Hull won’t have to worry about relegation. They have a better chance of finishing in the top of the second half of the table.

Cardiff City (16th position, 4 Wins, 6 Draws, 9 Losses)
Malky MacKay will have to work really hard to keep Cardiff City in the top flight. His problems have been compounded by Vincent Tan’s irrational decisions and constant meddling. His ridiculous choice to put his son’s 23 year old friend, with no experience, as Head of Recruitment is beyond belief. Such decisions might not affect Cardiff’s standing in the league in the short term. But, it will affect them in the long run. Frazier Campbell and Jordan Mutch have been few scoring goals for them. If Mackay gets the sack then Cardiff is destined to go down and with Vincent Tan in charge, this is highly likely. I don’t think we will see Cardiff next season in the top flight.

Crystal Palace (17th position, 5 wins, 1 Draw, 13 Losses)
Crystal Palace is above Fulham only on the basis of a better goal difference. Of all the newly promoted teams, Crystal Palace is the one that has the highest probability to go down. Departure of Wilfried Zaha has surely hurt their chances of staying in the top flight. Sacking of Ian Holloway mid season will not help their cause. Tony Pulis will face an uphill task to prevent them from dropping down from the EPL.

Fulham (18th position, 5 wins, 1 Draw, 13 Losses)
Martin Jol’s sacking shows how badly Fulham has performed this year. Their defense has been consistently leaking goals this season. By the looks of it, Fulham looks like it will be playing in the championship next season
