Why Liverpool has become genuine title contenders this season?

It has been a long time since Liverpool were considered genuine contenders for the Premier League title, but three consecutive 1-0 wins at the start of this season led many to suggest the Reds could finally challenge again for the prize that has eluded them since 1990.
The scorelines were hardly comprehensive, but that was viewed by many as a sign that Liverpool had added a resilience and winning mentality that had perhaps been missing in the previous two seasons, in which the team had become notorious for dropping points in games they had dominated.
To analyze the chances of Liverpool being title contenders we start off with the manager Brendan Rogers.  After an impressive start to his career at Chelsea and Swansea, the Scot has managed to make a name for himself in the big time.  Rogers has assembled an extensively creative, and possibly more importantly, fearlessly young team. Rogers is a meticulous thinker who leaves nothing to chance.  Everything that is done on the training pitch is done for a reason; every player is bought with scouting and purpose.  The strength in depth that Liverpool now possess equates to that of title contenders with other commitments, however Liverpool are not even in Europe this season; possibly a key factor come the end of the year.
Talking about the team, the influx of young English talent has won over many natural supporters over, ready to see teams other than Chelsea, Manchester City dominate the league after years of being consistent challengers.  World cup prospects like goal machine Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Henderson, young lion Raheem Sterling and the old guard Steven Gerrard naturally make Liverpool more likeable to the casual fan.  Moreover, players like Sterling exemplify what Brendan Rogers’ whole philosophy is about.  The former QPR youngster has looked promising at England under 16 and 17 level but after being trusted with valuable game time, his game has improved by leaps and bounds.  Sterling repaid the faith shown in him with 2 goals in the recent 5 – 1 demolition of Arsenal.
Jordan Henderson, once a laughing stock considered an overpriced flop is now regarded as one of the most improved, yet, still promising English midfielders in the country. Henderson has added some penetration to his game and now has the ability to spilt open a defense with a pass or piece of skill as well as maintaining the engine he has always had to get about the park.
Daniel Sturridge is in the form of his career, and has his flourishing partnership with the mercurial Luis Suarez to thank for that.  Liverpool’s very own SAS has scored 39 league goals between them this year and have been the undoing of many a team. Also, Liverpool’s attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho seems to be in a great form. There is much more to come from this player given his abilities and the talent that he possesses.
All said, there is only one thing that affects the performance of Liverpool & that is inconsistency. Liverpool are known for throwing away points in matches against smaller clubs. If the reds improve upon this point there is no club stopping them from achieving that feat.
