Champions League Semi-Final 1st Leg: Los Blancos on a mission to dethrone the Kings of Europe

This match would have been the most neutrals’ desired final of the UEFA Champions League as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have been the best teams in Europe this season but instead they are going to play against each other in what promises to be another epic battle between two of the grandest football clubs in the world.

Bayern Munich, the current European champions and managed by former Real Madrid’s public enemy No. 1, Pep Guardiola, are on a mission to become the first team to win the Champions League for two successive seasons after the championship was rechristened to Champions League from European Cup. But in order to reach their destination they have to first dismantle arguably the toughest opponents they have faced all season. Real Madrid, on their own pursuit to win the Champions League for a record 10th time and first time since 2002, are on a high having just won the Copa del Rey last week against their eternal foes Barcelona. Also their talisman Cristiano Ronaldo is fit to play against the Bavarians after having missed Madrid’s last four matches.

This two-legged semi-final would be Pep Guardiola’s biggest test since joining Bayern Munich and the German team have to be at their very best if they want to conquer the Galacticos.
