Can anybody stop the marauding Mercedes in this F1 season?

The 2014 F1 season is just 4 races old but you cannot help wondering if the Mercedes team of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg can be stopped this season from running with from the rest of the crowd. Indeed, such has been their dominance this season that there is a possibility that they would better Red Bull’s dominance the past four seasons. With the two Mercedes drivers to start the Barcelona Grand Prix from the 1st and the 2nd position today, barring retirements, it looks unlikely that any other driver might win the race.

So with the Mercedes car head and shoulders above the other cars in the F1 this season, is there a chance that we might be seeing a championship winner other than the two Mercedes drivers. Chances are less for that to happen considering that has been the trend for the last few seasons at the F1, whoever has the best car wins the Championship. The last four years were all Red Bull, the year before it was Brawn GP.

Hence the moral of the story is that the best car always wins and not the best driver. If it had been otherwise then probably we would have seen Fernando Alonso, arguably the best driver amongst the current lot, add to his three F1 championships. Even quadruple world champion Sebastien Vettel is nowhere to be seen near the top without a great car.

But we, as Formula One lovers, can only hope that someone genuinely challenge the Mercedes team because frankly, the last four races have been pretty much boring with the only saving grace being the drama arising from the growing tensions between the two Mercedes drivers.
