The hardening hysteria at the hard courts; Serena, Aza, Rafa, Djoko, Murray still in splendour

The final Grand Slam, the last calendar event of its kind in 2013 just found a higher chord of hysteria as hit it the second wet week. With rain splashing the frontiers and encouraging shelter over the Flushing Meadows squeezed several matches out of order. Days 7, 8, 9 were studded with matches of the higher ante genre, making the statistics go all haywire just like the economic showdown of the countries. The Brians are two matches away from adding their golden excerpt onto the tennis epitaph, if they win their 93rd title on Saturday the story goes stating that they win a an entire Grand Slam and having won the golden medal at London 2012, would just add the word ‘golden’ prior to it. The last 3 days were full of upsets and upheavals to be minced upon. If Spaniard wasn’t already less to torment the fading monumentalism of the Swiss, he just found Tommy Robredo stunning him in straight sets to salvage his hopes in going to the Round of 8. People and the patrons of tennis were looking forward to the sensational clash between Rafael Nadal and Federer for the first time ever in the biggest stadium in the game of tennis, but alas just like rain is washing the turf of the blues, their hopes got washed as Robredo in his fiery form upset the trailing Champion. It was promptly accepted that he doesn’t deserve to go any further with this form and doesn’t certainly expect to beat any other player of Round of 8. Its for the first time since 2002, that Federer had to see his end, in 3 straight sets. While Nadal, felt a slight jolt, dropping an initial set against Kohlschreiber in Round 4, but he found his way back coming 6-4, 6-3, 6-1 in the game. With a superior service bout, and as the game progressed into the 4th set, Rafa just made it crystal clear that with 19 against none on hard courts this season, the Spaniard is all set to add the 13th title on his resume. He faces Tommy Robredo today in the evening at the Arthur Ashe to contest for a place in the final 4. Novak Djokvic the top seeded player, booked a rendezvous with Mikhail Youzhny who upset the 2001 ‘looking sturdy’ Lleyton Hewitt in a gruellous five setter, by beating Granollers in straight sets 6-3, 6-0, 6-0. Ferrer vanquished Tipseravic once again and plays Richard Gasquet, today, the French eliminated Milas Raonic in a 4 and a half hour battle to reach the Quarters. Stanislas Wawrinka, the shadow behind the great Roger Federer, stays put in the tournament, the Swiss re-instated himself overcoming a potent danger, Baghdatis and just completed a match over the higher seeded, Tomas Berdych to reach the next leg. He faces either Andy Murray or Denis Istomin who are deciding they’re fate right now at the night session of the Ashe.

If that was the red picture at the Men’s racquet, the battle cry at the Women’s forefront was even more distinctly heard. Serena Williams continued to render the requiems of other players as she whizzed past Carlos Suarez Navarro in a mere 6-0, 6-0 statistics to play the Semi-Finals for the 8th time in the duration of the tournament. The other day she had dominated the fellow American Sloane Stephens in a 6-4, 6-1 duel, thus ending all the anticipations of pre and post match. 3rd seed up setter, Ekaterina Makarova couldn’t find way past the ‘Wall’ Na Li, who plays in exceptional form to reach the Semis and plays Serena to find the way through the other side. Halep found her end at the mercy of Flavia Penetta who dealt away in straight sets and contests against fellow Italian Roberta Vinci the tenth seed, in both of their consecutive appearance for the quarters and the only ones as well. The Belarusian and the Slovak find their results today in the last quarter of Women’s. Azarenka continues to show avid form on the meadows but could be juxtaposed by Daniela Hantuchova who has seemingly re found herself defeating Sanchez, Duval, Glushko, and Riske en-route to the quarters.

Well with the end of this report, Murray just ended Istomin’s run in a 4 setter 6-7, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 and will now play Wawrinka tomorrow for the road Ahead. With four days to occur on the Meadows, stay connected to www.sportalink.com as we come up with a cutthroat approach upon the road to Finals. Who will it be, who’ll snatch away the glorious edition of the tournament and thus ending the year on a hero’s note. “We shall see”, thus spoke the king.
