Greatest Rivalries in Football - Liverpool vs Everton

It’s no secret that Liverpool and Everton are huge rivals, but why is that so?
It’s not as bad as the media sometimes suggests, with a lot of Liverpudlian households being colour-divided properties and making the Merseyside derby a family affair.
It’s common for some family members to go red, and others to go blue, and the two colours can often be seen mixing together on game day in a friendly atmosphere.

Football is part of the culture of the city of Liverpool. It is part of what has shaped the city, along with music, into the single most unique city in the United Kingdom.
The people of Liverpool have, for over a century, thrown themselves into their love for football. Many have shaped their lives around following their club, Red or Blue, not just all over England, but Europe too.
There’s an age-old tale about people "taking their work home with them" and in Liverpool, soccer fans take their obsession home with them. It mixes the household and the family within and all generations gets involved. They get involved in soccer, and develop a love of the game.
Which team they support is a little more complicated.
In most other cities a single household will support a single club. The allegiance to the club will be passed from generation to generations and won’t waver. This isn’t the case in Liverpool.
In the city of Liverpool, on every street in every area, you will find sets of brothers whose allegiances are mixed. One will support Everton, the other Liverpool. You’ll find husbands and wives walking to the match together, him in a red scarf, her in blue. Or the other way round.
Derby day in the city of Liverpool is a special occasion and you will see families travelling to the match together. They will often enter the stadium and sit together. Some in red, some in blue. To witness this serves as a reminder that some things in life are more important than soccer.

Mersyside derbies are great a spectacle as they are.
The Merseyside derby sees more red cards than any other Premier League game, and apparent form goes out the window.
Suffering bans, injuries and defeats can really put a dent in player confidence and that winning habit Liverpool used to consistently feel.
Mersyside derbies always seem to come at a bad time for the reds, and clearly that is all Everton’s fault.
Recently, under former Toffees manager David Moyes, it was quite difficult for the Blues to get a victory at Anfield. However, after
being the manager at Manchester United, things are a bit different now.

Merseyside Derby means a whole lot of joy to the footballing world. It is sheer pleasure to see the local rivals play against each other. Bookings, fascinating goals can be seen during this fixture. But do their fans hate each other? To some point, yes, fights can be seen after a match and frequently the police has to show up for closing it down.

With new manager Roberto Martinez, Everton are a stronger side and look to finish in the Top 4. Hitman Romelu Lukaku is in top form, already notching 4 goals and 1 assist for his team. As far as Liverpool, they are at the top of the table with exquisite performance from the Reds. The SAS ( Suarez and Sturridge ) partnership looks to be the deadliest striking force in the premier league. With top scorer Sturridge having 6 goals and 2 assists to his name, all eyes will be on Lukaku and Sturridge in the next fixture.

Players to watch out for this season -
: Lukaku, Mirallas, Baines, Coleman, Naismith ( Everton )
