Germany and Argentina winners of World Cup Draw, Spain and Brazil the losers.

Are there really ‘easy’ groups in the world cup? The 32 teams that make it to the grand daddy of sporting events battle hard over a year to make it to this stage.None of these teams hold back anything at this stage.
But still, there are a few teams you would consider as easy targets for the big boys. These teams are mostly from Asia, Africa and North America. Considering that the cup is not being held at their home turf, they will find it difficult.
Next set of teams that are relatively easy targets are the perennial chokers – those who end up being a great team on paper.
With these teams in mind, we try to figure out the easy groups in Brazil 2014. We also try to look at groups that will result in teams making it to the last four quiet easily.
Brazil has it easy in Group A followed by probably Mexico, considering the South American factor. Croatians have always been challengers and so have Cameroon but you favour Mexico to be the best of the three.
If Brazil win Group A they meet either Spain or Holland from Group B. This would be a match that would be fit for a World Cup Final. But at the second round, it would mean that either Brazil or Holland or Spain would be going home early. All these three teams are actually the losers of this draw.
If Spain win Group B they face Italy, if they come second they face Brazil. Same fate awaits Netherlands from Group B. No team would want to face the hosts or Italy in the second round and no team would want to face Spain or Holland in the second round.
This extra pressure makes all three – Brazil, Spain and Holland our biggest losers of the draw.
If Italy win Group C and England come second, they get to face either Japan or Greece in round 2. Fairly easy for them to go past round two you would say.
But in the QF, Spain or Brazil await. It will be safe to say that the QF would be the end of English and Italian world cup campaign.
This makes Italy and England the second biggest losers of the draw.
If France win Group E they have a fairly easy opponent in the second place country of Group F, most likely Nigeria. But in the QF, Germany awaits. If France do not win the Group, Argentina awaits in Round 2.
Let us add France to the losers list as well.
Then who are the winners? They are Germany and Argentina.
If Germany were to win Group G ahead of Portugal, they face the second placed team of Group H (most likely Russia) in Round 2 and then France in QF.
Considering the German form and team composition, Semi Finals looks well in sight.
Argentina face the second place team of Group E (Switzerland or Ecuador) and then Belgium or Portugal in the Quarters. On South American soil, you would expect Argentina to prevail on either one of them.
Finally, once you are in the last four of the World Cup, you cannot expect easy matches.
But the World Cup is a month long tournament. You build up steam as you move forward. Playing strong teams early on is never a good idea. The ones who don’t play strong teams at the early stages end up going the farthest in the cup – our winners Germany and Argentina in Brazil 2014.
