Can Chelsea win the Premier League ?

Chelsea has done well lately in the English Premier League. They are third in the table as of now, two points behind the league leaders Arsenal. Chelsea has been unbeaten in the last six matches. Arsenal has also looked good this season. The only reason why I cannot see Arsenal lifting the title is because of the lack of depth in the squad.

Chelsea on the other hand has a good squad with decent depth. David Luiz has adapted to his new role as a holding midfielder. Cahill and Terry have held the defense stable. Cesar Azpilicueta has also looked good. He looks like the natural heir to Ashley Cole. Hazard has been the star of the team. He has already scored 9 goals. He has matured under Mourinho. Even Torres has started scoring.

Looking at Arsenal’s squad, it looks like the title race will come down to Chelsea and Manchester City. Manchester City does not have to worry about the depth of its squad. If Chelsea wants to seriously challenge Manchester City, it will need a new striker. They do not have a Luis Suárez or a Robin van Persie or a Sergio Agüero. Roman Abramovich will have to bankroll the signing if he wants his team to lift the title again.

Considering the present squads, unless Chelsea fails to find a Diego Costa or Higuain, Manchester City’s chances to win the title are pretty high.
