Australian Open Day 10: Nadal, Federer advance to the semi-finals, Azarenka ousted

Rafael Nadal reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open after a hard fought victory over Grigor Dimitrov. Rafael Nadal won his way through to his fourth Australian Open semifinal with a 3-6 7-6(3) 7-6(7) 6-2 victory over the talented Bulgarian 22nd seed.

Nadal will meet his biggest competitor Roger Federer in a blockbuster semi-finals after the Swiss defeated 4th seed Andy Murray in four sets 6-3 6-4 6-7(6) 6-3.

In the women’s section, defending champion Victoria Azarenka was outclassed by a spirited Agnieszka Radwanska 6-1 5-7 6-0 and with this both the Men’s and Women’s defending champions have fallen in the Quarter final stage. Azarenka’s exit means we are guaranteed a first-time women’s winner with Dominika Cibulkova, Li Na, Eugenie Bouchard and Agnieszka Radwanska the remaining candidates. In the last Women’s quarter final, Dominika Cibulkova continued her dream run defeating Simona Halep 6-3 6-0 to set up a semi-final date against Agnieszka Radwanska.
