Manchester City: Will they be able to win a Quadruple and Rewrite the history this season…???

Manchester City is an English football club and is one of the wealthiest football club of the world. The club is filled with stars of the current generation. With such a huge strength they have an opportunity to rewrite the history by winning all the four tournaments in one calendar year. But it’s not an easy task to achieve such a feast.

The team is eyeing for all the four tournaments at stake namely The Premier League, Champions League, FA cup, Capital One Cup this season. The team is capable of scoring goals at will and are known for it. The record from the past speaks for itself wherein they have scored more than 100 goals in the current season itself. With the brilliant attacking forward and most of the midfielders involving in scoring goals it would be difficult for other teams to win against the current city squad. But the strength itself sometimes becomes the weakness for the team where in if an opponent counter attacks then the remaining four backs should do all the work of defending as the midfielders will be in a forward positions. This was put into display when Chelsea beat Manchester city in one of their league games recently. If this is sorted out then the current team is one of the best teams of the world. With this sort of a team it is worth trying to achieve a quadruple this season.

Starting with the Capital One Cup, Manchester City have already reached the final. They will be facing Sunderland who defeated Manchester United on their way to the final. Sunderland might be oozing with confidence after they defeated the red devils but Manchester city in the current form is a more dominant team on any day when compared with Sunderland. So Manchester city comes out as a winner here. Secondly if you see the FA cup draw the only contenders whom might give a tough challenge to Manchester city are Arsenal. Recently they defeated Arsenal in their first league match. With that sort of a result City are full of confidence and are expecting a good performance again against the Gunners. When the two teams are compared one on one Manchester comes out as a clear favourites.

Coming to the Premier league this is where the top teams like Arsenal. Chelsea and Manchester city are going neck and neck battling it out for the glory. The form of all the three teams are brilliant but the destiny of Manchester city depends upon the form of other teams as well. If you see the remaining fixtures for Manchester city in the league they face Arsenal, Liverpool and they have 2 games against Manchester United whom have just included Juan Mata from Chelsea to strengthen their squad. So it will be very difficult to maintain the same consistency and win all the remaining league games. On the other hand Chelsea under the inputs of the coach Jose Mourinho are confident about their playing style and are aiming to be the champions even though their coach claim that they are still a team in a building phase for the next season.

The most difficult one would be the draw against Barcelona which they will face in the Champions league. The Spanish giants have the fire power with them and they have already been the winner of the competition before. For Manchester this is the first time that they are facing Barcelona in the last 16 stage of the league. If they move pass the Spanish giants then they might have a brilliant chance to win. It will be a tough challenge but not an impossible task with the form they are currently in. Also their manager Pellegrini has seen the Spanish giants during his time with Malaga, Real Madrid and Villareal. So this could help Manchester city form their strategy against the Spanish giants Barcelona.

Whether Manchester City will be able to rewrite the history or not but as a football fan it’s the best time to sit back and enjoy the beautiful game.
