English Premier League: The best in the world???

For the English Premier League teams it seems like a good transfer window with most of the big guns being able to strengthen their squads with world-class talents. With Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas joining Chelsea, Alexis Sanchez joining Arsenal, and Ander Herrera and Fernando joining the two Manchester clubs, the EPL can be viewed as the league which attracts the best of the football talents.

But just a cursory glance at the players who have joined the Spanish League (to be more specific, Real Madrid and Barcelona) in this transfer window gives us a completely different picture. Real Madrid have signed two of the best players of the World Cup while Barcelona have signed arguably the third best footballer in the world. James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos had lit up the World Cup with their brilliant performances throughout the tournament and all the Madridistas would be eagerly waiting to see them star for their team. As for Barcelona, they have bought a gem of a player, albeit with an occasional habit of biting his opponents.

No doubt the signings made by the English clubs are really good but none of them can be compared to the galaxy of stars now being assembled at Real Madrid and Barcelona. Compare an El Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona comprising the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez, Karim Benzema on one side and Messi, Neymar, Suarez on the other side to a match between, say Manchester City and Chelsea. It is almost a crime to even comapare comparable. Indeed, players like Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas have been discarded by Barcelona in order to get some cash from their selling to pay for the new boys.

It is now a reality that the Premier League has somewhat lost its charm to the best of the footballers and that every young and upcoming talent in the game now regards playing for one of the El Clasico pair as the most important recognition of their playing career. Many people would vehemently vouch for the Premier League as the best in the world but just one look at the squad of the Spanish behemoths surely puts the matter to rest.
