The Ozil Effect !!!

The Ozil Effect !!!

When I wrote my previous article a lot of pressure was mounting over Arsene Wenger. He was criticized by the media and the fans. High stakes were placed stating this could be Wenger’s last season at Arsenal. However one week down and things have taken a three sixty. Arsene Wenger has become the darling of the media and there is a new belief among the Arsenal fans that there could be something special. May be by stating "something special" I am probably going overboard. But they surely look more likely to be in the top four this season. All of this new found belief is courtesy of one move that took place on the transfer day deadline. Mesut Ozil joining Arsenal.

A blockbuster signing from the professor, Mesut Ozil is just what the Gunners required. He is easily among the top three creative midfielders in Europe. I was actually surprised that Real Madrid allowed him to leave. The arrival of Gareth Bale meant that someone could be moving out of Madrid. But it looked highly unlikely that it would be Mesut Ozil. The fact that the Real Madrid supporters were chanting his name during the unveiling of Gareth Bale states how much he was admired by them.

Arsene Wenger has never splashed such big money (£42 million) on any player. The previous record signing of Andrei Arshavin for £15 million is now where close to it. Wenger knew that the money he is spending is good business. Ozil and Santi Cazorla would be a great treat for any striker. The improved form of Olivier Giroud is also good news for Arsenal. He would benefit a lot having these two players playing behind him and providing assists.

Their victory against a mega spending Tottenham squad may be was the beginning of good things at Arsenal. Hopefully they can build up on it and do well under the Professor.
