Tennis Round up : 11th October

As the Shanghai masters nearly comes to an end, we have three of our four semi finalists. Novak Djokovic, Tsonga and Del Potro made it to the finals, whereas the fourth quarterfinal between Nadal and Wawrinka is yet to be played.

Djokovic overcame a resilliant Monfils, who made a surprise upset over Roger Federer in the third round. He won the match in three sets, after losing the first set in tiebreak.

Del Potro and Tsonga had a considerably easier quarterfinal, who proceeded by defeating Almagro and Mayer respectively.

Tsonga will play in Djokovic in the semis, while Del-Potro will play the winner of Nadal-Wawrinka clash.

As the race to London heats up, Roger Federer is losing his way. Though Andy Murray’s withdrawal has eased the matters, Tsonga, Raonic and Gasquet are right under his toes, and he has to perform well in the Paris masters to scrape a spot in the ATP finals.

Tsonga, who made a return to tennis after a long injury layout, has played well to reach upto here. He has nothing to lose, and it is quite possible that he could upset Djokovic.

Del Potro is right on his way to qualify for the ATP finals. He is just one victory away from qualification.
