United lose the title with loss against Everton

What Moyes didn’t achieve in 11 seasons at Everton was achieved within a few months of him leaving the club. A win against United at the Theatre of Dreams was something Everton fans could only wish for in the past but their new man Roberto Martinez was abel to fulfill this dream and their wish.

A 1-0 loss against Everton at home has not only put a dent in their EPL hopes but in my opinion they have lost out in the title race. Despite the league being just about halfway through, United are 12 points behind league leaders Arsenal, who have been very impressive to say the least. In comparison, United have very rarely looked like title contenders. Much of the blame is onto Moyes.

He inherited a league winning team from Ferguson, and despite not venturing into the transfer market, he did ultimately buy one of his Everton players. Maroune Fellaini is an exceptional player and does add the necessary talent and quality to the United midfield. Moyes has been unable to rally his team and make sure that they perform at levels that is expected from the defending champions.

Their game against Everton showed that despite having the better possession and a better first half they couldn’t capitalize on their chances and see that all 3 points were collected. This has been the case for the whole season. United just do not have the cutting edge that is required to win the league. They let Everton score a goal as let as the 86th minute.

First half saw United retain majority of the possession and Rooney having a deflected shot hitting the post. Giggs went close with a header that went just wide. And both Welbeck and Kagawa had chances but lacked the precision to score.

The second half saw Everton come back strongly and posed certain problems for the United back line as Barca wonderkid Deulofeu who was slotted in by another loanee shot straight at Spanish International De Gea.

And 5 mins from time, Lukaku sent the ball to the far post for Oviedo to slot home the winner. It was a poor performance from both the sides, with no player performing very very well.It was the goalscorer, Oviedo who stood out for his tireless efforts on the field.

United do not look like contenders and should be able to qualify for the champions league at the very least.
