AC Milan vs AS Roma - Match Preview

AC Milan is in ninth place in the league table and the Scudetto may be out of the picture with them trailing first place Juventus by 22 points.

AC Milan has had a less than stellar season in Serie A, but they are favorites facing AS Roma, who is the only undefeated team in the league.

By the time AC Milan and Roma confront each other at the San Siro on tuesday, leaders Juventus could already be six points clear at the top of Serie A.

Antonio Conte’s side host struggling Sassuolo in Turin on Sunday and are expected to pick up a win that would see them further increase their advantage over second-placed Roma.

That would require Rudi Garcia’s team to register their sixth away win of the league campaign to keep the Italian champions in sight.

Rudi Garcia’s side have struggled somewhat in his absence after a record-breaking start to the season, losing top spot in the table to Juventus - although they remain the only unbeaten side in Serie A.

On the other hand, Milan will be head into the encounter on the back of two consecutive draws – 2-2 against Livorno in Serie A and 0-0 with Ajax in the Champions League.

Milan head into the game as the only Italian side still in the Champions League after sealing their place in the last 16 by holding Ajax to a goalless draw in midweek.

However, striker Stephan El Shaarawy has returned to full fitness and is likely to start for the Rossoneri alongside Mario Balotelli in attack, with Kaka playing just behind them.

Meanwhile, Roma will be without midfielder Miralem Pjanic as he was sent off in their last outing.

Totti has played his part in training this week and, despite suffering a blow to his calf that had threatened to extend his stay on the sidelines; the 37-year-old is expected to be in the running for a start against Milan.
