Transfer Talk: Upcoming Transfers in January Window

Transfer-talk are always one of the most happening table-talk when the Transfer window looms. With the January window looming upon us, speculation is rife as to who will be those ‘Golden Ones’ who move to the clubs of their choice. The big ones attract attention throughout the year, considering the huge amounts of money and pride that clubs put at stake. Transfers are something that players are equally desperate, not just for the money that comes along, but also for that elusive position in their country’s World Cup Squad at Brazil, with most teams yet to be finalized.

Here are 5 potential upcoming transfers in January that have created a lot of noise

1. Cesc Fabregas: he has been in United’s wishlist almost throughout 2013. They bid twice, for 25 million pounds and then for 30. But Barca wouldn’t budge. Will United open their purses over a neutral player, who hasn’t made public his views over the transfer? Only time will tell. Meanwhile, United has made no bones about the fact that they want the midfielder in their line-up for the Champions League.

2. Juan Mata: Mourinho is back at Chelsea and he is making changes big-time to revitalize Stamford Bridge. And Mata isn’t the guy that Mourinho wants on his defensive-styled team. But then there are more than enough suitors for this talented Spanish midfielder. Paris Saint Germain, the noveau-rich French champions have the kind of money that would attract Mata. Despite repeated denial by Mourinho, PSG is readying a 35 million pound bid. And Mata might be transferred, after denying United and Tottenham the opportunity to own Mata. With Real and Barca not interested and Bayern looking elsewhere, PSG are the only contenders for Mata currently.

3. Luis Suarez: The Urguruan International has been the target of a lot of potential transfers, starting from a 40 million pound bid by Arsenal. But, Liverpool rejected, hoping for a bigger sum. Suarez is already looking to move out of EPL and La Liga seems to be the right destination. And only one club can possibly afford him - Real Madrid, with Barca not keen on having the flamboyant striker. But, if Liverpool’s release clause is anything to go by, Real will think twice. 100 million pounds is what Liverpool is asking for, more than what Real paid for Gareth Bale and Ronaldo. This is one financial transaction that people world over are looking out for as it could create new records.

4. Wayne Rooney: No transfer news/rumour is complete without Rooney in it. Rooney is expected to quit United as early as possible, with Chelsea already bidding for him twice at 40 million pounds. Rooney is no longer seen as the dominant Old Trafford striker that he once was, with Van Persie in top form, but still commands a premium in the market. United, however aren’t ready to let go of Rooney, as they haven’t bid or acquired any major talent who could possibly replace Rooney in the coming future. However, if United lets go Rooney, expect many bidders. It is very much possible that Old Trafford is waiting for ‘The Deal’ for which they could sette. With United already involved in multiple transfer negotiations, Rooney is certainly not on their priority. But, he very much is in Mourinho’s sight as he seems keen to stretch Chelsea’s finances to acquire Rooney to strengthen Chelsea’s offensive capabilities.

5. Iker Casillas: The world of transfers rarely speculates Goalkeepers’ transfers. But Casillas’ transfer is one that will grab the eyeballs of every football fan. News report that Casillas is frustrated with Real and is looking to move out of La Liga, where he has spent most of his professional life. Arsenal and Man City are keen on the Spanish international, even as Ancelotti puts in his faith behind Diego Lopez, sidelining Casillas in the process. Amount is disclosed, but the transfer is possible anytime, early being January as well. Gunners, who are strengthening their side are looking at Casillas as a potential captain to lead them in the upcoming league matches.

These 5 are just few that figure in many of the blogs and discussions. Rumours abound with transfers of numerous other top players like Radamel Falcao, Marco Reus, Robert Lewandowski, Sami Khedira and many others. Only time will tell which deals will fructify in the coming months. Till then, happy speculating!
