Buckle up...Sebastian Vettel is all set to be a 5 time World Champion by defending his title this year or Will he be able to defend it…???

The defending champion of the Drivers’ championship in Formula 1 was on a high at the end of the previous season. He was crowned the championship for the 4th time. He was often seen compared to his fellow country mate Michael Schumacher who has achieved this feat for a record 7 times.
Sebastian Vettel is chasing the title for a record fifth time this season. But this will be one heck of a task for him this time. With his new fellow driver Daniel Ricciardio it would take some time for him to make the necessary changes and racing strategy for the benefit of the team. Also if you see the build-up of Red bulls for the current season they have decided to come up with an entirely new design. As quoted by Sebastian Vettel himself he claimed that there are a lot of new keys and adjustments in the new car which would take some real time practise sessions for him to get used to it.
This time around the four time world champion might face a very tough challenge from all the three big guns of formula 1 namely the McLaren’s, Ferrari’s and the Mercedes. If you see the results of the first preseason testing which happened from 28th to 31st of January 2014 in Perez, it was not at all impressive for Red bulls. They were able to make a fewer number of runs which could give them critical and important information about the car than compared to that of McLaren’s who were able to make the maximum test runs. The new design of the car was giving more difficulties and the car even broke down midway while Daniel was making his first test run. Christian Horner stated in an interview that this could be the most complicated car in the history of formula 1 on its birth. But still he has shown defended his engineers by saying that he has full faith that the car will be ready for the championship.
There are few new rules in place for the 2014 season it might be very tricky and could make the path to glory a bit hard for the defending championship. If you see the opponent teams and drivers they are preparing for a big battle this year. Ferrari who were supposed to be consistent in their racing, are expected to come back strong this season as they were not up to the make for nearly 3 years now. Also with Kimi Raikkonen joining them alongside Alonso it will be a great force for them. Even with a decent car both these drivers could give Vettel a run for money. Also the driver line up for McLaren-Mercedes is decent. Both Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg are trying to prove their potential in the driver seat of an F1 car. McLaren’s have showed very good results in the preseason testing. This could boost the confidence of both Button and Kevin Magnussen who is a young kid in the block. Even force India for that matter might come up with a competitive car so you can’t take them out of the equation.
With these sort of improvements and competitors alongside Vettel its time for the fans to buckle up as it could be one of a kind and an exciting season this time. Let’s wait until the five red light illuminate on the 16th of March in the Australian GP.
