Should Barcelona persists with Tata Martino as their manager next season?

Barcelona slipped to another humiliating defeat away at Granada over the weekend and whilst the media focus their attention on who is mostly to blame, unfortunately for manager Tata Martino, he’s the one where the spotlight seems to be shining on most of all.

All the main sports publications in Spain are of the opinion that the Argentine coach won’t fulfil the second year of his contract, regardless of him previously having stated that he never walks away from a job or breaks a contract. Rumours persist however, that he hasn’t been happy with the tiresome and repeated questions he’s often asked at press conferences, as well as the burning media glare, hanging on his every action or word, as manager of such a high-profile club as Barcelona.

As such and apparently with a clause in his contract that allows either party to sever their ties, speculation continues to grow that Tata Martino won’t be leading the team next season.

Though many candidates are rumoured to be of interest to Barcelona, diario SPORT in particular has highlighted Borussia Dortmund coach, Jürgen Klopp, as being the number one candidate to take the helm at the Catalan club next season. They claim that the wheels are already in motion, that Tata Martino has already made his decision not to stay and that Barca are already making enquiries about bringing in the popular and media-friendly German coach.

The main problem for Barcelona, amidst such difficult time both on and off the pitch this season, is that the boardroom shenanigans have lead to a severe loss of credibility. Both president Bartomeu and sporting director Zubizarreta, have given their backing to Tata on more than one occasion, whilst also suggesting they see no reason for him to leave the club.
