Robin Uthappa:The best Indian batsmen on display this IPL

It has been a disappointing season for the Indian batsmen in general.The big names such as Kohli, Raina, Rohit, Gautam Gambhir and others have disappointed and have had poor seasons by their standard. It’s an indication enough that there is only one Indian is in the top 7 run scorers this IPL and that man is Robin Uthappa, who is third on that list behind Maxwell and Smith. He clearly is the best Indian batsmen on display in this edition.

KKR may have had a stop start season, but one man who has consistently delivered for them this season is Robin. He can be credited to bringing back the KKR campaign back on track when he formed a very successful opening partnership with Gautam Gambhir. Robin has scored his runs at a decent strike rate of around 130 and hasn’t been affected by the constant floating in the unsettled KKR batting order.

Robin’s form in no surprise to those who have followed Karnataka in the last domestic season. They won every trophy that was there to win and Uthappa was a big part of those wins. The other players of that team namely Manish Pandey, Karun Nair, Stuart Binny are themselves doing well for their respective teams.

There is also Dhoni who has performed brilliantly for CSK this seaspon, winning them several games this season in some thrilling last over finishes, but he has come in too late in the innings. Hence Uthappa pips him to being the best Indian on view. KKR for one would be hoping his form continues if they are to mount a serious challenge for the IPL title.
