Question.

LET THEM PLAY

LET THEM PLAY

Post the retirement of spin legend Anil Kumble, India used many spinners in the game & they tasted success on their own way. But still many believe they are unable to see the next Kumble. After his retirement, people started to fall on Harbhajan Singh wanting him to fill Kumble’s boots as same in the case when Rahul Dravid retires. Today, India has many spinners in the team but still many of us not satisfied with them. The term ‘next’ seems to have gripped our mindset with these new players. In Harbhajan, Ashwin, Ojha, we started to look for Kumble. Now Cheteshwar Pujara, who made a sensational start to his career in Tests, has already been termed as next Dravid. Some section even predict about a player’s skills on foreign soils. One thing they need to understand that when Rahul Dravid or Anil Kumble left, the left their own legacy, not the name of their predecessors. Similarly, these new generations are growing & growing well & one day, they will also leave a legacy of their own.

Comparison in the game is not new. It has started years ago. But people need to realize the fact that everybody has their own talent & own style of playing the game. Now Shikhar Dhawan scored 248 in an ODI match & for that you can’t call him next Virender Sehwag. Yes, he is as aggressive as the latter but he has his own temperament. That’s why there are so many haters of Dhoni in our country because people try to find the nature of Sourav Ganguly in him overshadowing his leadership skills. New guys will take some time to settle & they will make their place by their own merits. One good knock doesn’t make a great player; similarly, one bad knock doesn’t harm a player’s skills. Let them play & enjoy their innings.
